The council of entrepreneurs at the Ukrainian parliament plans to draw up a law on the status of small and medium business in Ukraine, organize strict monitoring of decisions taken in the parliament, and ensure the protection of businessmen from repression and pressure from the side of the law enforcement agencies.

The press service of the parliamentary committee for industrial and regulatory policy and entrepreneurship reported that a meeting of a special group for the creation of the parliamentary council of entrepreneurs was held in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday. The head of the profile committee, Natalia Korolevska, and the head of the committee for the protection of entrepreneurs of Lviv region Yevhen Shapovalenko were elected co-chairpersons of the committee.

"Taking into account that law enforcement agencies across the whole country have officially started to summon entrepreneurs that participated in a rally against the Tax Code on Maidan [Intemperance Square in Kyiv], officially collected personal data, and opened criminal cases against activists, we have to give publicity to all the facts of pressure placed on business, otherwise we will be crushed one by one," Korolevska said.

According to the press service, the main task of the council will be the drawing up a law on the status of small and medium business in Ukraine. The document will clearly stipulate conditions of business, the formation of a simplified taxation system and impetuses for the creation of a new economic policy.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, rejected a proposal to create a temporary investigation commission to investigate evidence of the violation of the rights of businessmen and the illegal persecution of entrepreneurs by agencies of the executive branch.
