Kyiv, November 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko at a meeting with bankers on Thursday will analyze the situation on the currency market of Ukraine, according to Presidential Secretariat First Deputy Head Oleksandr Shlapak.

Demand for currency, which is currently observed on the market of Ukraine, is much higher than [it should be], Shlapak said.

"The demand of $1 billion that is observed on the market every day, poses too many questions" he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

According to Shlapak, the National Bank of Ukraine and Finance Ministry should analyze the situation observed on the currency market and determine how the situation can be explained: is this "a psychological, speculative demand" or "[due to] the unbalanced US dollar rate."

"If it is psychological, speculative demand, we know how to deal with it," he said.
