European Commission imposing 10.7-44.1 percent duties on Ukrainian seamless pipes

KYIV (Interfax) - The European Commission is imposing customs duties of 10.7% on seamless and welded steel pipes produced by Ukraine's Interpipe and 44.1% on pipes produced by other Ukrainian companies.

The EC said in its official journal, posted on its website, that Ukraine shipped 25,173 tonnes of pipes to the European Union in 2004, 17,210 tonnes in 2005, 4,501 tonnes in 2006 and 2,753 tonnes in 2007.

The Ukrainian shipments accounted for 2% of EU pipe imports in 2004, 1.6% in 2005, 0.4% in 2006 and 0.2% in 2007.

Victor Pinchuk's Interpipe estimates its share of the global seamless pipe market at 4.3%. Its turnover was $1.8 billion in 2007, when it produced 1.472 million tonnes of tubular and wheel products.

Interpipe consists of three enterprises: OJSC Interpipe Nyzhniodniprovsky Tube Rolling Works, OJSC Interpipe Novomoskovsk Tube Works and LLC Interpipe Niko Tube.
