Luhansk, July 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Regions Party Leader Viktor Yanukovych has called on the Cabinet of Ministers to provide OJSC Luhanskteplovoz, a leading Ukrainian locomotive producer that is owned by Russian conglomerate Transmashholding, with state orders.

"Money allocated and foreseen in the budget and at Ukrzaliznytsia to buy the kind of machinery produced by Luhanskteplovoz will provide the enterprise with stable work for three or four months," Yanukovych said on a Luhansk regional TV channel.

According to Yanukovych, the placement of the state order will be a lifeline for the enterprise, which is currently on the verge of halting due to a lack of orders.

Luhanskteplovoz produces mainline and shunting diesel locomotives, diesel and electric trains, trams, and spare parts for railway transport.

As reported, in January to February 2009 the company produced machinery worth UAH 44 million, in March the indicator was UAH 121.94 million, which was 6.8% up compared to March 2008.
