Kyiv's experience in stimulating payments for housing and utilities may be used in other regions of Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov discussed the issue during a meeting, the president’s press service reported on March 16.

Popov informed the president about the course of implementation of a pilot project in Kyiv, according to which residents that pay for housing and utilities by the 20th every month get a discount.

According to Popov, this project is being implemented in Kyiv starting from Feb. 1 and it has achieved good results.

"In January and February this year municipal housing and utilities companies received 107% and 101% of payments, respectively," he said.

Popov also informed that the president took interest in this project and proposed to consider the results of its implementation over the first quarter of this year, and discuss a possibility of its realization in the rest of Ukraine.
