Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities will mark Europe Day on May 21, Head of the EU Department of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Vasyl Filipchuk has announced.

He said that traditional European Town would be opened on Khreschatyk Street in Kyiv on the occasion of the holiday.

"This year, 20 embassies of the EU member-state are planning to set up booths," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Filipchuk also said that about 330 events would be held in all regions of Ukraine to mark Europe Day.

He said this year the key accent will be placed on the meaning content of the holiday: Citizens will be informed about the process of the European integration of Ukraine and the government’s activity aimed at bringing Ukraine to the level of a European state.

Filipchuk added that a conference entitled "Ukraine on the Way to the EU: Current State and Prospects" will be held in Kyiv on May 20.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko will open the conference.

Government representatives, Ukrainian politicians and MPs will take part in the event.

Ukraine has annually marked Europe Day on the third Saturday of May since 2003.
