You're reading: Yanukovych: Ukraine looking forward to opening of United Arab Emirates Embassy in Kyiv

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said that Ukraine is looking forward towards the implementation of high-level agreements about the opening of an embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Kyiv, the president's press service reported.

"I believe, that the opening of diplomatic representative office will help strengthen our bilateral cooperation," Yanukovych said during his meeting with Foreign Minister of the UAE Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The parties noted the need to foster partnership between the two countries and open an embassy of the UAE in Kyiv.

Yanukovych expressed confidence that the first visit of the foreign minister of the UAE to Ukraine will also be a beginning of a new stage in the relations between the two countries.

"We attach great importance to relations with the UAE in trade, economic and investment fields … I am convinced that in order to fully realize our potential of bilateral cooperation we need to establish a regular political dialogue between the countries at the highest level," the president said.

The UAE official in turn said: "We are proud to announce that the government of the United Arab Emirates plans to start work of its diplomatic mission in Ukraine. We hope this task will be realized soon." According to him, the relations between Ukraine and the UAE are friendly and very warm, but both parties need to strengthen these relations further.

Yanukovych also confirmed his invitation to the UAE president to visit Ukraine.
