Three people, including two Dutchmen, were preliminarily injured in a fire at the Ukraine Hotel in Kyiv on Friday, the acting head of the media liaisons department of the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry's office in Kyiv, Oleksandr Khorunzhy, has told Interfax-Ukraine.

He said that "three people were hospitalized, with two citizens of the Netherlands being preliminarily sent to a clinic to determine the extent of their poisoning by combustion products, and a citizen of Ukraine preliminarily suffering first or second degree burns."

Khorunzhy said that the fire broke out in a room on the ninth floor of the hotel and that over ten Emergencies Ministry crews and special equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.

"According to one version, the fire broke out after a short circuit in the air conditioner," he said.
