You're reading: Cyprus president to open embassy in Kyiv and visit Mariupol

Cyprus President Demetris Christofias will participate in the opening of the Embassy of Cyprus in Kyiv during his official visit to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine that the president’s visit to Ukraine would begin on Sunday, July 3.

On Monday, July 4, Christofias is expected to meet with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. The presidents are to sign a number of bilateral documents.

The president of Cyprus will also meet with First Deputy Prime Minister and Economic Development and Trade Minister Andriy Kliuyev and Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn.

The two presidents will also attend a Ukrainian-Cypriot business forum.

On Monday, Christofias will attend the ceremony to open the Embassy of Cyprus in Ukraine.

On Tuesday, the Cyprus leader will visit Mariupol to familiarize himself with the activities of Mariupol State University. It is planned that Christofias will deliver a speech before the students and faculty of the university.
