Kyivenerho: gas supplies reduced
Dec 5, 2008 at 10:32 | Ukrainian NewsReduction of natural gas supplies to the heat power plants No.5 and No.6 was launched at 12:14 on Oct. 4 that caused instability in functioning of both heat power plants.
Curtailment of natural gas supplies to the heat power plant No.6 resulted in its water boiler disconnected. This entailed the drop of temperature to +60 grades, and to +58 at the heat power plant No.5.
Kyivenerho stressed that curtailment in volumes of thermal energy supplied to consumers causes increase in energy consumption.
Increase in energy consumption results in overload of the electricity supply network and electrical equipment.
Reduction of natural gas supplies causes nonfulfillment of operations schedules, limitation of maximum capacities of the Kyivenerho heat power plants and inefficient functioning of the company.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on November 18, Kyivenerho company, which delivers heat and electricity in Kyiv, lowered the natural gas supplies to the heat power plants No.5 and No.6 by 30 percentdue to the gas debts of the enterprises.
As of November 19, the debt of Kyivenerho for the consumed gas to the Naftohaz Ukrainy national joint-stock company's subsidiary, Haz Ukrainy, wasHr 155 million.
The compensation received for the tariff difference accounts forHr 386.8 million when a total ofHr 790.8 million was required for 2008.
Haz Ukrainy instructed gas supply companies to reduce supplies of the natural gas to Kyivenerho because of the debts it owes to Haz Ukrainy.
Kyivenerho ended 2007 with profits of UAH 6.149 million; its net revenues increased by 40.83 percentorHr 1,340.535 million toHr 4,624.091 million in 2007 compared, with 2006.
The state owns a 50 percentstake plus one share in the Kyivenerho open joint-stock company (this stake has been contributed to the statutory capital of the national joint-stock company called the Energy Company of Ukraine), Kyiv municipal council owns 12.73 percent, Fluminea Limited (Cyprus) owns 15.72 percent, and Kapiton Trading Limited(Cyprus) owns 24.98 percent.
