The Kyiv city state administration has decided to draft and endorse the images of the city emblem and flag, the city state administration's order said.

To do this, the city state administration has created a workgroup formed of representatives of its structure divisions, specialist in the field of art history and heraldry.

In compliance with the results of its work, the group should draft the decision of the Kyiv city council on approval of the emblem and flag images for their further endorsement at the session.

According to the chairman of the city state administration, despite Kyiv has and uses its emblem and flag, their graphics have not been endorsed by the Kyiv city council.

Thus, he said that the group should think over all elements and parameters of the emblem and the flag.

The representative also said that the imaged offered by the group will be almost similar to the currently existing symbols.

In March 2002, the Kyiv city council endorsed the by-laws of the territorial community of Kyiv, which envisions mandatory endorsement of the Kyiv's emblem, flag and hymn.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in October 2008, the Kyiv city council prolonged the tender for writing hymn of Kyiv until February 15, 2010.

In 2007, the Kyiv city state administration set the prize of UAH 50,000 for the authors of the Kyiv hymn.

Kyiv uses its emblem and flag depicting Archangel Michael.
