Musician Oleh Skrypka and United Nations plan Earth Day cleanup of Trukhaniv Island on Apr. 25

Ukraine’s popular musician and organizer of ethnic music festivals Oleh Skrypka together with United Nations office in Ukraine are inviting city residents and guests to mark the Earth Day in Kyiv by cleaning up one of the city’s recreation zones, Trukhaniv Island.

The event will be taking place on April 25, from 11:00 till 14:00, starting from a base near Moskovskiy bridge. Organizers said the participants will be able to clean the island, plant trees, as well as have fun in the company of folk musicians.

“We’re sincerely calling all residents of our large home called Ukraine not to poison our lives by littering streets, parks and forests, but to remember that the cleanliness of human soul starts from the cleanliness of one’s yard,” the organizers said in a press statement.

The Earth Day is celebrated aroudn the world on April 22.
