Right radical nationalists have damaged a monument to Vladimir Lenin, the principal leader of the October Revolution, in downtown Kyiv.

A group of suspects aged between 20 and 38 have all been arrested, the media liaisons department of the Interior Ministry's main office in Kyiv told Interfax-Ukraine.

Five people from an unofficial organization in Ukraine damaged the monument on Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, breaking the nose of the statue and part of its left hand at around 0400 on June 30.

One of the suspects is a supermarket security guard, two are students, and two others are unemployed. Two of them have already been convicted of vandalism.

The monument, located in front of the Besarabsky Market, was erected in the 1950s.
