The Kyiv-based Billa-Ukraina Company is likely to open the Billa Central Food Store in a premise of the Bessarabskyi Market in Kyiv on November 4.

Ukrainian News learned this from a statement by the press service of the Kyiv city state administration.

"The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on November 4," the statement reads.

The Billa Central Food Store will start working on November 5.

The Billa Central Food Store occupies nearly 600 square meters.

According to the statement, the supermarket will work from 07:00 through 01:00.

According to Irena Kilchytska, the first deputy chairperson of the Kyiv city state administration, the city authorities expected the company to open the food store in May 2009. However, the financial crisis forced the company to postpone the opening of the food store until November.

Irena Kilchytska noted, according to the press service, that the company has committed to sell nearly 20 names of foods of the consumer basket with a trade markup not exceeding 5-10%.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Kyiv city state administration on February 17, 2009, sold through an auction a right to lease a premise for a food store on the territory of the Bessarabskyi market in the center of the city to the Billa Ukraina Company for UAH 3 million.

According to Irena Kilchytska, the company obtained the right to lease a premise of 601.5 square meters for five years.

The monthly rent of the premise on the ground floor of 323.6 square meters will be UAH 100 per square meter and the monthly rent of a premise of the basement of 277.9 square meters will be UAH 50 per square meter.

The Billa Ukraina Company was founded in 1998 by the Austrian BILLA Company, which is a subsidiary of the German REWE Group. The German group specializes in the creation of a chain of supermarkets.
