Sunday Adelaja Kyiv police have tried to arrest the pastor of the Embassy of God, Sunday Adelaja, but the courts have only decided to ban him from leaving the country, the head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's main office in Kyiv, Vitaliy Yarema has said at a press conference on Monday.

Yarema said that Adelaja was questioned by investigators, and he was accused of fraud in several matters. On October 30, according to Yarema, the police, with a support of public prosecutor's office, sent a submission to the court on taking Adelaja into custody.

"But the court didn't support this submission, and he is still only banned from leaving the country," head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's main office in Kyiv said.

As reported, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry has accused Adelaja of defrauding citizens of money. Adelaja was accused as part of the investigation into a criminal case on the King's Capital financial group opened in January 2009.

On November 24, 2008, Kyiv police officers arrested the leader of Kyiv-based King's Capital, Oleksandr Bandurchenko, on suspicion of large-scale fraud.

On the next day, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry claimed Adelaja was involved in organizing the activities of the King's Capital financial group.

Adelaja was accused of defrauding citizens of money.

On March 14, 2009 Adelaja was again banned from leaving his place of residence. This measure had previously been applied to the pastor.
