The city authorities’ memo on flu prevention
Nov 4, 2009 at 15:34- Avoid public places, use of public transport, and contact with people with visible signs of respiratory infections, such as a runny nose, coughs and red eyes. Wear a medical face mask or a four-layer gauze bandage in crowded places.
- If you develop fever, coughs, a cold or disruption of digestion or muscle pains, consult a doctor immediately, follow their instructions thoroughly and avoid contact with other people. Do not administer any drugs by yourself. A disease can only be diagnosed by a doctor!
- If any of your relatives develop symptoms of a cold or another respiratory infection, immediately isolate the infected person in a separate room and only enter the room if you are wearing a face mask. Call the doctor immediately, and minimize contact with the patient.
- Before leaving home apply an ointment, cream or oil to your nose. After returning home clean your nose and nasal passages with water mixed with salt and soda.
- Wash your hands with soap, especially if you have sneezed or coughed. If you cannot wash your hands regularly, use disposable wet napkins with alcohol. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, especially in a public place.
- Air the room often, clean with wet cloths at least twice per day.
- Lead a healthy lifestyle, making sure you get enough sleep, eat well and remain physically active.
