Gazeta Po-Kyivsky: Andriyivska church closed because of stairs collapse
November 05, 2009 at 14:56As Andriyivska church dean Mitred Archpriest Father Vitaliy Danchak said, at present all the planned services take place in the building of Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church on Mykhaylovskyi Cathedral.
The church was temporarily closed for construction. In October, construction workers prepared polls to build a wall to secure the church porch.
“We asked not to close the church during the porch reconstruction works, but to put a sort of brick path leading from the stairs to the entrance instead. We were told it would be done, but they refused to do that later,” as Father Danchak said.
Danchak alsosaid the priesthood will have to stay “churchless” for yet another month, instead of two weeks.
Construction site supervisor Serhiy Stadnyi assures that he warned the Mitred Archpriest about church closing three weeks in advance with a special letter. Construct workers promise to complete all the work at the site within five weeks at most.
