Andriyivska Church has been closed in Kyiv because stairs leading up to the church have collapsed.

As Andriyivska church dean Mitred Archpriest Father Vitaliy Danchak said, at present all the planned services take place in the building of Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church on Mykhaylovskyi Cathedral.

The church was temporarily closed for construction. In October, construction workers prepared polls to build a wall to secure the church porch.

“We asked not to close the church during the porch reconstruction works, but to put a sort of brick path leading from the stairs to the entrance instead. We were told it would be done, but they refused to do that later,” as Father Danchak said.

Danchak alsosaid the priesthood will have to stay “churchless” for yet another month, instead of two weeks.

Construction site supervisor Serhiy Stadnyi assures that he warned the Mitred Archpriest about church closing three weeks in advance with a special letter. Construct workers promise to complete all the work at the site within five weeks at most.
