The Kyiv city state administration has decided to celebrate New Year's Day on Maidan Nezalezhnosti from 7:00 pm through 2:00 am, Dec. 31 - Jan. 1, the Kyiv city state administration said. The festive lighting of the New Year's tree will be held at 4:30 pm, Dec. 19.

Apart from that, the administration decided torelevantly decorate Maidan Nezalezhnosti and Mykhailivska Square by Dec. 10 and other streets on demands of districts.The Kyivmiskoformlenie municipal enterprise will be engaged in the decoration of the capital.


Besides, on the eve of the New Year's holidays, the city state administration decided to organize various entertaining events. In particular, on Dec. 14-25, the Palace of underwater sports will host city competition in finswimming for the prizes of Santa Clause and Golden Fish.


On Dec. 19, Khreschatyk Street will host the parade of Santa Clauses-volunteers.


During New Year's and Christmas holidays from Dec. 18, 2009 through Jan. 19, 2010, the Main trade department should organize Ukrainian dishes fair on Khreschatyk Street.


The Kyiv city state administration decided to hold the celebration of Christmas on Mykhailivska Square on Jan. 7.
