The police have detained two persons who threw a bottle of paint at a restored monument to Vladimir Lenin in Kyiv.

At present the two are being detained are in Shevchenko district police department until the circumstances of the incident are clarified, the police office of the Main Department of Ukraine Interior Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine.

Earlier, the Ukrainian communists opened the restored monument to Vladimir Lenin in the center of Kyiv on Nov. 27.

Leader of the Communist Party of Ukraine Petro Symonenko unveiled the restored monument. At that moment, representatives of the Ukrainian Svoboda Association threw a bottle of red paint at the monument, splattering it with red spots.
