Party of Regions planning several demonstrations in Kyiv
Feb 5, 2010 at 19:57 | Interfax-UkraineThe Youth League of the Regions of Ukraine filed an application for an action starting on February 5 in defense of constitutional rights outside the building of the Cabinet, Verkhovna Rada (Parliament), the presidential secretariat, the Central Elections Commission, the Supreme Administrative Court and the Kyiv Administrative Court of Appeals and also in Independence Square.
50,000 people are expected to turn out as indicated in the application.
The Kyiv city chapter of the Party of Regions filed an application for an information action in Mykhailivska Square.
The election headquarters of presidential candidate Viktor Yanukovych filed an application for an action entitled "Ukraine for honest elections" outside the Central Elections Committee starting from February 8. This particular action involves the installation of tents and a stage.
The number of potential participants indicated in the application is 50,000 people.
The Kyiv city administration also received an application from the Kyiv chapter of Batkivschyna organization, the party of Yulia Tymoshenko for an information picket involving the installation of tents in Sofiyska Square.
Earlier the district administrative court of Kyiv satisfied a February 2 plea from the city administration to bar Batkivschyna and the Youth League of Regions from holding massive actions in Independence Square between February 1 and March 1.
