Azarov: Kyiv's authorities have three months to solve urgent problems
Mar 20, 2010 at 15:14 | Interfax-UkraineThe cabinet's department for public relations reported that Azarov gave the instructions on Saturday at a meeting with the leadership of Kyiv city administration and heads of central executive power bodies devoted to the settling of urgent problems of Kyiv's development and provision for the city's vital needs.
"We're giving some time – no more than three months. These three months do not mean that we let you to freely float. If the situation did not improve, we'll take tougher measures," he said.
The prime minister said that Kyiv's authorities have all resources and possibilities to settle the situation.
Azarov said that firstly, the problem of management in Kyiv should be settled. He said that the large number of posts of first deputies and mayor deputies in Kyiv are to be cut.
"Cut the number of lazybones and put forward tasks to each department. Leave only two deputies. Cut the number of deputies. Rationally and clearly define responsibilities of each deputy," he said.
Azarov added that the permitting system should be relaxed in Kyiv, the problem of state purchases and land allocation should be solved, and corruption and bribery should be combated.
