The Ukrainian Regional Development and Construction Ministry has selected a land plot near the National Complex Expocenter of Ukraine in Kyiv (the former VDNKh), where private companies will build an experimental street with cheap housing using the latest technologies.

Work on preparing the site for construction will be launched at the beginning of August, Regional Development and Construction Minister Volodymyr Yatsuba said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

The minister said a total of 22 project houses would be built on the plot. They were selected from 60 projects submitted by various companies.

According to him, the street will likely be completed by the end of 2010, but not later than spring 2011.

As reported, the Ukrainian Regional Development and Construction Ministry proposed that businessmen build cheap houses using new technologies for their later sale, and in particular, houses that could be built for $20,000-50,000.
