Aug 19, 2010 at 11:56 | Interfax-UkraineThe spokesman for the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office, Yuriy Boichenko, told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday that Prosecutor General Oleksandr Medvedko had met with the mother and father of the deceased student on Wednesday.
"The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prosecutor General and Prosecutor of Kyiv Yuriy Udartsov," the press service said.
Boichenko declined to specify the goal of the meeting, but only said that it had been held as part of investigating a criminal case on the death of the student.
As reported, the Kyiv prosecutor's office, following the death of a student at the Shevchenkivske district department of police in Kyiv, on May 28 opened a criminal case on the abuse of office by the employees of this department. The case was opened under Article 365 of the Criminal Code, which foresees up to ten years of imprisonment.
Kyiv police chief Oleksiy Krykun has suspended the chief of Shevchenkivske district police department, his deputy, assistant chief of the department's call center and a district police officer while prosecutors investigate a criminal case on the death of the student at this district police department.
