A six-year-old male chimpanzee Johnny has arrived at Kyiv Zoo, the organization's press service said.
"The Zoo currently has only females of this rare species. So we very much hope that these two young females and a new male will form a family group which will then give birth to young ones," a chief veterinarian of Kyiv Zoo Andriy Marunchyn said.
Johnny is currently under a strict quarantine, which will last presumably until September 3 or 5.
The MinnPost in July rated the Kyiv Zoo as the world’s fourth worst.
