The vice prime minister for preparations for Euro 2012, Borys Kolesnikov, has criticized Kyiv policemen for not knowing foreign languages.

"It is a national disgrace that no policemen in the Ukrainian capital can speak English," he told journalists in Kyiv on Friday.

The vice premier said that volunteers who know English will be trained for the Euro 2012 championship. In addition, printed materials will be prepared to train law enforcers, transport workers etc.

Kolesnikov said that call-centers would operate in each of the host cities, where volunteers who know not only English but also French, German, Spanish, Polish and other languages will work.

Foreigners will be able to call to such centers to get the information they need, he said.
