Parliament gives green light for Kyiv to create district councils
Sep 7, 2010 at 18:31 | Interfax-UkraineA total of 245 lawmakers out of the 423 registered in the parliament's session hall on Tuesday voted for a bill of amendments to the law on the Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv.
The law foresees that district councils in the city can be created under a decision taken by the territorial community at a local referendum or under a decision taken by the city council.
The decisions by the territorial community or Kyiv City Council on the creation or non-creation of district councils should be taken before the next elections.
