Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on Friday opened a new flyover on Moscow Square in Kyiv.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that the head of state cut a ribbon at a ceremony to mark the opening of the new roadway.

A press release distributed by Kyiv City State Administration at the ceremony reads that the cost of the reconstruction of the Moscow Square amounted to Hr 353.4 million, of which Hr 95.4 million was allocated from the city budget and Hr 258 million from the state budget.

The length of the flyover is 432 meters, and it will increase the traffic capacity of Moscow Square from 9,000 to 12,000 vehicles per hour.

Construction work on the access road to the flyover from Nauky Avenue is to be completed by Dec.15.
