You're reading: Update: Opponents of new Tax Code gather on Independence Square

Several thousand demonstrators protesting the adoption of the new Tax Code proposed by the government and pro-presidential parliament majority began gathered on Independence square by 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 16.

Around 10:00 a.m. the group will march up the hill along Hrushevskiy St. to parliament, which is scheduled to floor the code for adoption.

Opposition factions in parliament have vowed to block passage.
