About 2,000 Ukrainians gathered on Sofiyska Square in Kyiv on Saturday to celebrate Ukrainian Unity Day.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that about 2,000 people had gathered on the square and that people were continuing to come from the central subway stations.

Those who gathered are holding the party symbols of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko, the Svoboda Party, the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists, the People’s Movement of Ukraine (Rukh), the Ukrainian People’s Party, and national flags.

Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko is expected to come to Sofiyska Square.
