Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has arrived at the Sofiyska Square for a nationwide meeting on the occasion of Ukrainian Unity Day.
An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that about 3,000 Ukrainians on the square had welcomed Tymoshenko.
The opposition leader thanked all who came, and said that in all regions buses with people who were traveling to Kyiv to participate in the rally had been checked.
She said that representatives of almost all Ukrainian regions had gathered on the Sofiyska Square.
"Almost the whole of Ukraine is here – this is the first step toward change. Let us feel the spirit of freedom on this historic square!" Tymoshenko said.
