You're reading: Doctor: Ukrainian footballers may have been poisoned in Germany by salad of poor quality

The poisoning of ten players of the Ukrainian football team before a friendly match with Turkey was most likely caused by a salad of poor quality, a doctor of the Ukrainian team, Leonid Myronov, said.

"Upon arrival to Germany, at a local hotel, they might have fed us with food of poor quality. We think that consumption of one of salads most likely resulted into bad consequences," the Ukraine 2012 information center cited Myronov as saying on Thursday.

"Two cooks service the team and they have to check all products. They departed to the hotel earlier than the team and they had to check everything," the doctors said.

At the same time, Myronov said that the football players need one or two days to get well and return to work.

As reported, Ukraine coach Oleh Blokhin said before the friendly match, which took place in Ingolstadt (Germany) on June 5, that ten members of the team had got poisoned.
