You're reading: Ukraine climbs ten spots in FIFA ranking

Ukraine's national football team jumped from 59th to 49th place in the new FIFA ranking published on the organization's official Web site on Wednesday.

World and European champions Spain top the table. They are followed by the Netherlands, Germany and Uruguay. Brazil is in fifth place, after climbing two spots.

One of Ukraine’s opponents in the Euro 2012 group stage – England – dropped from fifth to sixth place. France jumped from 17th to 16th place, and Sweden climbed one position and is now 17th.

The Russian national football team climbed one spot and is now in 12th place.

Ukraine’s Euro 2012 co-hosts Poland moved from 70th to 75th position.
