You're reading: Over 20,000 people per day to cross Ukraine-Poland border during Euro 2012

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine forecasts that more than 20,000 people per day will cross the Ukraine-Poland border via seven checkpoints during the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.

"According to our forecasts, some 3,000-4,000 people will be serviced by each checkpoint on the border with Poland," Head of the Border Control and Registration Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Oleksandr Binkovsky said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.In addition, the flow of motor transport is estimated at 2,000-3,000 cars and 400-600 freight vehicles per day.

Binkovsky also said that "the Border Guard Service of Ukraine is doing everything necessary to avoid there being queues at the borders, and to achieve the registration of guests of the championship in the minimum possible time."
