Pit Bull Balkan Pub opens
November 05, 2008 at 20:20 | Alexandra MatoshkoClearly, the owners refused to give up the dog theme, yet the new pub is a much livelier place than the former dark and gloomy Bulldog. The new design looks to have been borrowed from movies by Emir Kusturica – gypsy interior and decor prevail. Imitations of colorful carpets on the walls, and sofas with carved backs add a cheerful touch to the dark wood interior. The place partly caters to students of the nearby University of Foreign Languages, who like to drop by at Pit Bull for a snack after classes.
The menu is quite small, though dishes are filling and portions are generous. You can choose among: borscht with chicken bullion (Hr 25) and an aromatic soup of white mushrooms (Hr 25), chicken wings (Hr 38), sausages (Hr 28 to Hr 60) and veal in cognac sauce served with boiled broccoli (Hr 60). Salty sticks are served with beer free of charge. Overall, Pit Bull is a comfortable pub for a friendly drink and chat, or even a date – the place feels cozy enough for that.
