A song by Skryabin and its music video gets banned from television and radio

The national Comission on Protection of Public Morals, a government watchdog, said the lyrics of the Skryabin song “Mumitrol” violated ethical norms and incited violence. The song goes: “If you betray me, my love, I’ll tear out all of your hair, I’ll bite your hand hard, like a rabid dog…” According to the Law on Television and Broadcasting, a song that receives such a verdict may be removed from air. Skryabin frontman Andriy Kuzma took it calmly, though. “I’m just sorry for these people who cannot find anything more damaging on the Ukrainian culture scene than our song,” he said.
