Women’s center offers pick-up tips for ladies.

As the sweet spring dating season approaches, more Ukrainian women – at least the single ones – are thinking of how to find the right man for mating. For those who need tips or perhaps a booster shot of self-confidence, a business has sprung up just to help them. Angels bills itself as a psychological help and pickup training center for women.

Some 30 women attend training at Angels each month, and those numbers spike upwards about this time of year. “There are at least 50 women each spring month. Women are longing for ‘resurrections’ after moody winter depressions,” said Victoria Nemchenko, a 34-year-old psychologist at Angels center.

Now everyone can go to school to learn these lessons. Prices start from Hr 1,500 to Hr 4,000 for a group lesson, which takes two days (14 hours overall). Individual sessions cost Hr 250 per hour with Nemchenko.

Nemchenko said men appreciate women who take the initiative in love.

“A man on a date wonders if he’ll get lucky. A woman should already know. Take life by the horns with your female energy and pick men up!” Nemchenko exhorts her students. “Trust me, a man will be so relieved by you that he would certainly flirt right back, buy you a drink or ask you out!”

Nemchenko offers practical advice for seducing and keeping any man. She instructs in the art of unforgettable erotic massages. She gives tips on how to get as much money out of him as possible. And, finally, she favors increasing the flow of female hormones with so-called “yoni building,” exercises in strengthening vaginal muscles. If people are skeptical and think it all sounds too good to be true, well, they could be right. But Angels students are believers.

“A year ago, I loved a man who was five years older than me. But he did not pay any attention to me. I used to read dozens of women magazines, followed friends’ advice. Nothing helped,” said 25-year-old Olena, a sales manager and Kyiv resident who did not want her surname published because neither her friends nor her fiance knows she took pick-up training classes.

“After days and nights of crying, I decided to take a risk. When I got an e-mail from Angels, I went there,” Olena said. “Here I received step-by-step instructions on how to get married, what to wear and how to behave with men, what to ask and not to ask them, how to give them the best erotic massage they have ever experienced. Though I was rather skeptical about all of that and too afraid to use everything I was advised, I did and it worked. I was proposed to last month.”

Each pickup training session includes theoretical and practical aspects. “Each woman has four roles which she can play as she likes: a lover, a queen, a girl and a housewife. We teach how to change the roles to make men do what you need,” Nemchenko said. “You should be a lover for 30 percent, a queen for 20 percent, a girl for 40 percent and a housewife only for 10 percent. Otherwise, your man would be bored by you much sooner than you succeed in marrying him.”

Each group consists of five women of different professions, ages, incomes and – in many cases – interests.

Women who are under age 20 tend to want lessons on how to be sexy and learn more about body language.

Women older than 24 years often focus on marriage. There is at least one married woman in each group whose aim usually is to make her husband love her the way he did when they first met. “Although they have different purposes, their problems are common,” Nemchenko said. “Their men don’t respect, love and want them the way they need them to.”

During the Angels sessions, strangers are not used as human guinea pigs.

Only beloved men (or women) can take part in the training, such as receiving erotic massages.

Nemchenko said she acquired her expertise first-hand – and at an early age. She got married at age 17 and has two children. She started her career as a psychologist after her husband cheated on her with her best friend.

“I was so depressed my father took me to the [convent] to calm down. One of the priests told me: ‘There is no bee that would like to gather honey from a faded flower which you look like today. Think about it!’”

So she transformed herself from an ordinary housewife completely dependent on her husband to successful independent business woman. She also found a new husband.

“From my personal and practical experience as a psychologist, I can assure you that men usually love a woman who lets him know that he is wanted and desired,” Nemchenko said. “Men can be seduced just as easily as women.”
