Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has congratulated IBF/WBO/IBO world heavyweight champion Vladimir Klitschko of Ukraine on his victory in a fight against Nigerian boxer Samuel Peter.

"You have once again defended your champion’s title, demonstrating professional excellence to the millions of your fans from different countries," the head of state said in a letter of congratulation on Tuesday.

Yanukovych said that through his life and sporting example, Klitschko inspired the younger generation to be physically healthy and courageous in competition.

He also wished The Steel Hammer (Klitschko’s nickname) good health, personal happiness and further victories for Ukraine.

On September 12, the 34-year-old Klitschko defended his IBF, IBO and WBO world heavyweight titles in a fight against the 30-year-old Peter in Frankfurt, Germany.
