You're reading: Paris Hilton in Kyiv attacked by Femen

Wherever she goes, star-studded Paris Hilton never lacks attention. But during a trip to Kyiv to judge a beauty pageant on Sept. 11, she became a center of an unusual skirmish.

Chanting “Model, don’t go to brothel,” an activist from Femen, the women’s rights organization, leaped in front of the celebrity, while Paris was giving a press conference. Feminist Oleksandra Shevchenko, also a blonde, tried to strip down but was immediately pushed out from the hall by the organizers. She nevertheless managed to steal the Hollywood star’s thunder.

The aim of this protest, according to Femen, was to draw attention to the fact that in Ukrainian modeling business beauty is for sale.

Even after being removed from the hall, Shevchenko allegedly didn’t give up and mounted her attempts to get back in. The activist was numerously detained for her nude protests on various subjects in the past.

Among other violations of public peace was an episode on Ukraine’s Independence Day, Aug. 24, when four half naked feminists destroyed a trident-shaped flower bed near the Cabinet of Ministers. The court issued another verbal warning to the women for the disrespect of public property.
