You're reading: Largest fountain in Europe switched on in Vinnytsia

A musical illuminated floating fountain on the Pivdennyi Buh River was switched on in Vinnytsia for the first time on Monday.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the fountain and a restored river quay with a length of 700 meters was held on Sept. 11 night.

The fountain is 60 meters high and 140 meters long. The Petro Poroshenko Fund invested over Hr 70 million to renovate the quay, which Vinnytsia City Council decided to name Roshen, fortify the embankment and build the fountain.

"We decided that here [in Vinnytsia] the largest fountain in Europe would be built," businessman Poroshenko told journalists before the opening. He noted that the quay would become exclusively the recreational zone where there would be no sales outlets.

He said that the fountain would we switched on from 12.00 until 22.00 every day.
