You're reading: Peacocks may leave Ukraine

While some trademarks are coming to Ukraine, others are leaving. Peacocks London, a budget clothing company, is mulling the closure of its Ukrainian franchise. Its representative blamed an ongoing crisis for low sales.

“The company is up in the air right now. We do not know what to expect tomorrow. The chain might be closed in Ukraine because of the crisis,” says Olga Yurieva, a company representative in Kyiv.

The brand has about 600 stores in the United Kingdom, and another 200 franchises across the globe, including 10 in Ukraine. Here the brand is popular with students for its relatively low prices and frequent sales.

The brand itself was founded in 1884 by Albert Frank Peacock in Britain. It first shops in Ukraine opened in 2005.
