You're reading: Five new sports officially recognized in Ukraine

Five new sports have been included in the register of recognized sports in Ukraine, in particular, kung fu, WKF karate, floorball, koshiki karate and WKC karate, the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine reported on Tuesday, March 7.

A respective order, No. 969, regarding the recognition of the new sports in Ukraine and their inclusion in the register of recognized sports, was signed on March 2, 2012 by Deputy Head of the State Service on Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadym Sysiuk.

According to the order, the second section of the register of recognized sports in Ukraine (non-Olympic sports) now includes new clauses on: kung fu, WKF karate (World Karate Federation), floorball (a type of floor hockey), koshiki karate, and WKC karate (World Karate Confederation)
