BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Argentine President Cristina Fernandez is congratulating the director and actors of the "The Secret in Their Eyes," a local film that won the Oscar for best foreign-language film.

Fernandez called the film "a fantastic movie that I saw twice and that had a real impact on me."

The movie portrays the activities of the Argentine Anti-communist Alliance. That "Triple A" death squad has been connected to the deaths and disappearances of 1,500 people during the 1974-76 rule of former Argentine President Isabel Peron.

The film was directed by Juan Jose Campanella, who also directed the movie "Son of the Bride," which was nominated for best foreign film in 2002.
