Ukraine is planning to bid to host the finals of the Europa League and the Champions League after Euro 2012, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Borys Kolesnikov has said.

"I think that after hosting Euro 2012, we will bid for the right to stage the finals of the Champions League and the Europa League," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.

Kolesnikov noted that a respective application would be submitted in 2011 and that it would be possible to bid to host the finals of the top European football competitions after 2013.

He said that the initiative to host the finals could be made by cities that have proper stadiums, then it would be necessary to submit an application to the Football Federation of Ukraine (FUU) and UEFA, and the FFU would then have to ensure the completion of this application and its promotion.

Kolesnikov said Ukraine expected that UEFA could lower the bar of requirements for the seating capacity of stadiums for these games from 70,000 to 50,000 people, and Kyiv and Donetsk would then be able to obtain the right to host final matches.
