Sam Popat

An Indian Party sounds like a perfectly natural thing in the oriental-themed Buddha-bar. Sam Popat – a resident of London’s Buddha-bar is coming to set the Indian mood in Kyiv. Born in Madagascar, Popat lived and worked in Canada for some time, then moved to Paris and worked for Buddha-bar there until finally he was appointed to be the Buddha-Bar resident in London. Popat plays a blend of house and world-music – he manages to add beats to the ethnic tunes without overloading the latter with electronics. The rest of the Indian Party program includes dishes of Indian cuisine, Indian dances and henna body-painting. Anyone willing can also get a bindi from a specialist – a decorative and symbolic Indian dot placed on the forehead.

Buddha-bar (14 Khreshchatyk, 270-7676). July 11, 10 p.m.
