De Phazz

Nov 26, 2008 at 19:05
German band De Phazz is coming to Ukraine again, this time with a tour that involves six cities. Favorites with Ukrainian music lovers, De Phazz became known in the late 1990s as the main promoters of the lounge music style.

The previous concerts of De Phazz in 2002 and 2003 were quickly sold out, and the band’s appearance at Jazz Koktebel festival in 2005 was also a big hit. At their upcoming concert in Kyiv, the band will collaborate with Ukrainian jazz orchestra Lybid, conducted by Hryhoriy Postoy, which played live in such popular TV shows as “Tantsi s Zirkamy,” “Tantsyuy Dlya Tebe” and “Karaoke Zirka.”

De Phazz, playing dub and disco, soul and acid jazz, electronic and lounge grooves, is the classy eclectic electro-funk quartet led by Pit Baumgartner. He is a producer who surrounded himself with a shifting cast of guest musicians and vocalists, and changes his crew for every new album. Some of the more permanent members are Karl Frierson and Pat Appleton. The albums “Detunized Gravity” (1997), “Godsdog” (1999), “Death by Chocolate” (2001), “Daily Lama” (2002), “Natural Fake” (2005) and their latest work, “Days of Twang” (2007), are filled with the latest lounge tunes and infinite references to the jazz and soul of the past.
