One of the best landscape artists of Poltava oblast, Pavlo Volyk was born in a town of Kotelva in 1941.

He graduated from State University of the Applied and Decorative Art in Lviv in 1971 and since then has been painting and exhibiting his works in Ukraine and abroad. Currently his paintings are kept in museums of Poltava region in Ukraine as well as in private collections in England, Greece, Georgia, India, Canada, the USA, Russia and France.

A member of the National Artist Union of Ukraine and an Honored Artist of Ukraine, Volyk is currently teaching painting at the Poltava State Technical University. The central theme of Volyk’s beautiful warm paintings is his motherland – Ukraine, and his main topics are traditional rites, heathenism, history and modernity.

Ukraine’s national heroes such as Maksym Zaliznyak, the 18th century Cossack leader, philosopher Hryhory Skovoroda and legendary singer and poetess Marusya Churay are among them.
