The star of musicals “Notre-Dame de Paris” and “Dracula,” Canadian singer Bruno Pelletier is coming to give a solo concert in Kyiv.

Born in suburban Quebec, Pelletier started his first rock band with friends in the early 1980s. Later he moved to Montreal, and, in 1991, he got his first roles in the musicals – “Vu D’en Haut” (View from Above) and “Le Fous du Rock’n’roll” (Crazies of Rock’n’Roll).

The following year Pelletier released his first self-titled album and played the part of James Dean in the rock opera “La Legende de Jimmy” (Legend of Jimmy). Soon after, he went to Paris to play in the “Starmania” musical and recorded two more albums, his third, “Miserere,” selling over 20,000 copies. In 1998 Pelletier got the part of Gringoire, the struggling poet and beautiful Esmeralda’s husband, in the “Notre Dame de Paris” musical by Luc Plamondon-Richard Cocciante.

The morning after the show premiered on Sept. 18, all of its leading actors, including Pelletier, woke up famous. “Notre Dame” became a best-selling performance and received numerous awards. It was subsequently staged in different languages in several countries, while Pelletier reprised his portrayal of Gringoire in the English-language production of the musical staged in London. In 2006 Pelletier played a title role in another popular French musical – “Dracula – Entre L’Amour et la Mort” (Dracula – Between Love and Death).

At the same time, the singer continued performing solo and recording new works. In 2007 he released a jazz-style album “Bruno Pelletier et le GrosZorchestre” while his latest record, “Microphonium,” came out last year.
