You're reading: Helene Segara

Just a month after the concert of Bruno Pelletier, another star of “Notre Dame de Paris,” Helene Segara, is coming to Kyiv to perform a new program, “Mon Pay c’est La Terre” (My country is the Earth).

Born in France in 1971, an aspiring singer left school at the age of 14 to pursue a career in music. She performed in the piano bars of the French Riviera. In 1996, Segara moved to Paris, where she met composer Christian Loigerot and producer Orlando, brother of singer Dalida.

Soon Segara experienced her first success with the single “Je Vous Aime Adieu” from her debut album “Coeur de Verre” (1996) and the duet “Vivo per Lei” with opera star Andrea Bocelli. In 1999, she landed the role of Esmeralda in the immensely popular French musical “Notre Dame de Paris.”

Her show career ended when she was diagnosed with a cyst on her vocal chords. After recovering, Segara recorded the chart-topping album “Au Nom D’une Femme” in 2000 and a third album “Humaine” three years later. Her fourth record, “Quand L’Eternite” stood out. In 2008, Segara recorded a duet with Pelletier, while her latest album, “Mon Pays C’est La Terre” she describes as a “realistic journey around the world.”
