Held in Ukraine since 1998, the “Night of the AdEaters” annual festival is coming to Kyiv once again, offering the usual six hours of exciting, thrilling, shocking and simply fun commercials from all over the world. Currently shown in more than 40 nations to some 250,000 viewers, the festival was founded by Jean Marie Boursicot, owner of the biggest libraries of TV and cinema commercials, some 950,000 clips in all. The first “AdEaters Night” took place in 1981 in Paris and was called “Friandises” (Sweets). Since then, the show has become popular all over the world and was twice included in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest-running show with the most spectators. This year’s program features 540 commercials from 54 countries. The special highlights include: Cadbury commercial with a drumming gorilla (2008); Citroen’s video with a dancing robot (2004); Budweiser beer’s “Wassup” advert (2002) and its 2008 sequel. Also expect a special retrospective of ad films from Boursicot Cinemateque collection starring legendary movie stars and musicians: Omar Sharif, Paul Newman, Brad Pitt, Hugh Laurie, Uma Thurman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Antonio Banderas, Serge Gainsbourg and Ray Charles among others.
